Linked Training offers the Certificate IV in Recordkeeping via distance at a total investment of $3,200 per person. We will provide support for you to access government funding. Funding arrangements vary between states in Australia.

The qualification can be paid in full prior to commencement or via a payment plan as outlined below:

Who is the course for?

Those seeking a career in or are currently working in records management who have basic knowledge of filing records and using a records management system. The Certificate IV in Recordkeeping via distance program is ideal for records officers or new entrants with administrative experience. Our Introduction to Recordkeeping bridging module ensures all participants have a firm understanding of Recordkeeping before undertaking assignments.

What if I’m not working in a Records Department?

This course is suitable for those with no records management experience. The Certificate IV in Recordkeeping Distance program is centred on a virtual world where you are the Records Officer in a fictional council dealing with real world problems, policies and procedures – just as one would experience in the workplace. This virtual world will give you great insight and experience in the world of recordkeeping, and the confidence to work in the real environment.

What is the course duration?

You will have the benefit of self-paced study and the course duration may be 12 or 24 months depending on your pace. Enrolment is for 12 months initially, with an assessment made before the first 12 months to determine if enrolment for a further 12 months will be required (an additional small fee applies for a further 12 months). Most of our students are able to complete the course within 12 months studying a 2 hours per week on average.

You may enrol in the Certificate IV in Recordkeeping via distance program at any time throughout the year.

What happens if I pull out early?

You can apply for a refund on the uncompleted portion of the qualification.

What are the assessments like?

Assessment for each unit includes three components:
• Activity questions – these practice questions are used to consolidate your knowledge of the material
• Written responses – these questions will assess your understanding of the content
• Project – the project allows you to put what you’ve learnt into practice in a simulated environment

Each assessment is submitted via the Student Portal as you progress. Your assessor will assess each submission and advise you of the result. You will know your progress throughout the program via your online Student Portal.

How do I access my materials?

Linked Training uses a web-based learning environment where students have access to all the learning materials needed to complete the qualification. All you need is a computer and access to the internet. You will also use this portal to upload your assessments to.

After enrolment, you will be sent your login details, and an eLearning topic which will explain and get you familiar with the student portal. A Trainer & Assessor will be personally assigned to support you throughout your study, including getting started studying in an online environment.

Is RPL available?

Yes. We’ll discuss your experience and any previous study you’ve completed to make sure the Certificate IV in Recordkeeping via distance is the right course for you. We’ll also identify any credit you may already have toward this qualification.

What if I’ve completed part of the qualification elsewhere?

You will be assessed under Recognition of Current Competency. You will need to provide Linked Training with certified transcripts of the completed Units of Competency. Linked Training will validate these transcripts and let you know whether your application for Recognition of Current Competency is successful.
